A/V - HOT ACTION SESSIONS. Hello and welcome, this DVD contains all the sessions from the new A/V album entitled "Hot Action." I tracked everything in a day at Soundmarket Studio in Halifax and then came home to Gaspereau Forks and dragged all the sound files into GarageBand 2.0 for mixing and mangling. GarageBand is the free music production software that comes with Mac OS X. In case it wasn't obvious, you need a Mac to open these sessions. These sessions will open in Logic as well if you're lucky enough to have it... A couple of notes: - Depending on how much RAM your computer has, you might experience stoppages during playback. In order to avoid these problems I froze all the tracks when I mixed the songs down. "Freezing" tracks eases the processor load quite a bit because then the computer doesn't have to calculate all the effects processing in realtime. The disadvantage is that every time you freeze a track it creates a whole new audio file; these sessions go from 1.5 gigs to 6 gigs with all the tracks frozen. So I went back and unfroze all the tracks in order to fit everything on a single disc. - You'll want to copy the files onto your hard drive before playing them back. If you try to play them back right off the DVD you'll probably get an error message. - You might find that a couple of these songs don't sync properly to the grid. I realized too late that it's very difficult to change the session tempo after you've recorded something because it shuffles all the audio around. For example "Do You Two Know Each Other" claims to be 150bpm when it was actually recorded at 152. So if you start cutting and pasting loops, nothing will align to the grid properly. But there are workarounds for this, as there are for everything. Feel free to remix and mutilate these songs to your heart's content. Even though the plugins are free it's not really my place to distribute them, so you'll want to visit these websites and download them all. Audio Units are easy to install, just download the .dmg's and drag the components into Library > Plugins > Components.
